Rainsong

I fell asleep to the hum of wheels around the drums, encased in steel.
Dreamt a dream I'd never seen: a frown, a smile, or coffee with cream.
Meanwhile, the world had washed away, the rain had won today.
The sky had opened up, it never stopped.
So what do you save for rainy days? Things to do or things to say?
Look at the world a thousand times, through the raindrops.
And the view from Jackson Pollack's window is only dark and stormy skies.

I thought today, I'd run away to greener hills to fly a kite.
I fell asleep to the hum of wheels, around the drums, encased in steel.
Woke to hear the rain and wind.
I'd build an ark, but we have sinned.
